Celebrating 50 years in the business

Bulleys Chartered Surveyors is celebrating 50 years in business, providing professional advice on all aspects of commercial property. Established in 1965 by Richard Bulley, the company has built an enviable reputation as local and regional specialists in the field of industrial and commercial property consultancy. With a wealth of experience and reputation for professionalism focused around consistently delivering core services such as sales and lettings, property and asset management, investment, valuation, rating, development & acquisitions advice, the company offers a balanced blend of flair and creativity in dealing with client instructions.

When Bulleys first opened the door for business in Chapel Ash Wolverhampton the company undertook livestock auctions at the cattle market in addition to commercial property consultancy. They moved away from auctioneering as the business built up an extensive portfolio of managed properties. They were directly involved with projects such as the development of Planetary Industrial Estate being 52 units extending to over 500,000 ft² undertaking lettings and management of the estate and have remained letting agents uninterrupted since the estate was built in the 1970’s.

The business continued to grow in Wolverhampton & wider Black Country and in 1986 expanded opening an office in Telford to serve Shropshire and surrounding locality. This proved a great success, capitalising on inward investment Government initiatives for the designated New Town with a 10 year Enterprise Zone status. The business expanded further opening another office in Oldbury in 2005 to provide even more comprehensive coverage of the Black Country and surrounding area.

By actively pursuing opportunities on behalf of clients and continuing to adapt marketing strategies, embracing new technology and consistently delivering beyond client expectations, the business continues to grow offering a flexible approach to assist and advise private landlords & tenants, funds and developers, from modest property matters to some of the largest developments in the UK. The company is proud of its roots and continues to apply the same level of expertise for smaller transactions as the larger high profile schemes. Some of the most notable in the region handled by the firm are the negotiation of Jaguar Land Rover taking over 100 acres on the i54 Business Park to build in excess of a 1m sq ft for a £500 million state of the art engine manufacturing plant; the letting of the world’s first (and still currently only) BREEAM rated “Outstanding” industrial facility to digger giant JCB, developed by Gazeley in Newcastle-under-Lyme extending to 384,000 ft² and the letting of the 323,000 ft² Citadel Logistics Centre in Wolverhampton to online sports equipment retailer Wiggle relocating its distribution hub from Portsmouth.

Specialists in all aspects of commercial and industrial property, Bulleys have also diversified in the style of transactions with recent examples negotiating a Premier Inn hotel on Castlegate Business Park Dudley where planning consent has also been granted for a Green King pub and restaurant, Costa Coffee and KFC. At J2 M54, the gateway to Wolverhampton from the north, a new Porsche dealership will be opening shortly negotiated by Bulleys and a number of sites in the region with buildings at the end of their life have secured interest from commercial and residential developers via Bulleys. The most significant example was the sale of the former ADAS Ltd Headquarter office block and laboratory. The 9 acre Woodthorne site is located in the much sought after area of Tettenhall and attracted significant interest from all the major housebuilders. A sale was agreed by Bulleys to David Wilson homes currently on site undertaking their development.

Business expansion continued with the merger earlier this year with Martin Bloomer Associates, adding to the existing Bulleys management portfolio, offering clients strengthened service and a greater depth of varied professional services. Bulleys partners Noel Muscutt, Rod Spiby and Steve Perriton commented, "This merger strengthens one of the most focused and dynamic commercial property consultancies in the area, continuing to offer the highest level of service to clients and deliver the best results. With some exciting new developments in the pipeline, there promises to be exciting times ahead and we look forward to the next 50 years!"
